Penelope Broadbent is a freelance writer, arts critic, and English language teacher.

Much of her childhood was spent barefoot on a rural Australian property surrounded by sugarcane fields. She was happiest in the company of furry, feathered, and scaly friends, and her own imagination.

A decade and a few moves later, life led her to Melbourne where she discovered the magic of the stage and screen, and the power of sharing stories. She completed an Honours degree in Creative Arts and became a regular contributor to the national performing arts publication Australian Stage. Her work has recently been published in The Faber Writing Anthology: Nonfiction 2022-2023 edition.

Today Penelope continues to dream, create, and write from desks, mountains, and windowsills around the world.
